A flippant use of an API

Thanks to Gareth Rushgrove’s detailed explanation of how to post to twitter with php, I was able to turn an extra 20 minutes downtime into something (potentially) useful.
What we have here is a photo of my friends list seen within Iconfactory’s quintessential Mac Twitter client Twitteriffic. Contrary to what you might think, I’m not having a conversation with myself, the user that are showing up as jb_com is actually just a dummy account that I’m using to get updates each time a unique visitor hits the homepage of Inseasonout, Inc’s website.
I had this idea a few days ago and just had time to sort out the details last Friday, but the idea is to get timely updates about strange traffic to my freelancing website, in hopes that I can more quickly respond to people linking to the site, or to unforeseen additional traffic. Right now the traffic to the site is relatively low, and I’m only counting unique referrers, so the noise inside of my twitter feeds is relatively low, but I’m guessing I’m going to have to turn it off in the near future do to the sheer amount of posts.
