Orlando has a great geek community, who knew?

April 13, 2008 by Josh Blount

I’ve lived in the greater central florida area my entire life, but I never realized how cool and connected a good segment of that community can be. This weekend was BarCamp Orlando 2008 and it was fantastic. The event was put on by a team including Greg Pollack from Rails Envy, as well as a small team of loosely connected companies.

I didn’t end up giving a presentation, but thankfully the day was filled with relatively interesting talks from interesting people. I’m glad I had the opportunity to participate, and look forward to the next one presumably coming in the fall.

Note: This post is a bit late, mostly because I was trying to articulate my excitement about some of the people I met and opportunities I saw in Florida, but I never got to editing due to work commitments. I’ll attempt to follow up later!
